I cannot tell you how excited I am that summer is finally here and we don’t have to wake the kids up early for school each day!  I am also kind of happy that baseball season has ended and soccer season isn’t here quite yet.  So, what do you do with the kiddos this summer without breaking the bank?  There are tons of fun and free activities in almost every community across the country.  The key is to stay active and get involved.  We absolutely love our local park.  Judice park is only about 3 miles from our house and the kids love spending time over there.  Whether it is taking an afternoon walk around the track, swinging on the swings, or just packing up our lunch and taking it to the park to enjoy; our local park is always a nice change of pace and gets us out and moving.  Sometimes we even pack up our baseball equipment and have a family baseball game after lunch.

Laughter. Running. Jumping. Climbing. Swinging. Sliding. When you think of a playground, you think of a happy, carefree environment. But there’s much more going on than just fun. IPEMA likes to think of playgrounds as nature’s many colorful, open, hands-on classrooms that provide tremendous learning opportunities to kids of all ages. The Voice of Play’s goal is to educate those about the benefits of play and to influence change in the way most people think about play. Play shouldn’t always be seen as a silly, extracurricular, optional activity, but rather an essential tool in a child’s development. Research shows that outdoor free play gives kids many valuable benefits, including the development of physical, emotional, social and cognitive skills.  ~Voice of Play
