Creamy, Slow Cooker, Hot Chocolate
You are going to love this creamy slow cooker hot chocolate recipe. We love, love, love hot chocolate around our house. Sometimes we wimp out and buy the powdered hot chocolate at the store, but usually we make it from scratch. It is so, easy peasy to make it from scratch too! our recipe changes depending on what ingredients we have on-hand, but this is the recipe we use most often. This recipe calls for cocoa powder, but you can also use bakers chocolates or you can even use chocolate chips in place of the chocolate and sugar. Change it up, experiment, and tell us what you think. You can add a little bit of peppermint oil to this recipe and make it peppermint-y! You can even add a little cinnamon and cayenne to spice it up a bit! I have even been known to use sweetened condensed milk in place of the milk and sugar. I’m telling you, it is so easy to make your own hot chocolate. Once you get the hang of it, you’ll never buy the powder again. This slow cooker recipe is just an adapted version of my stove-top hot chocolate. The beauty of making it in the slow cooker is that you can leave it all day and have hot chocolate for the kiddos all day long. They’ll love you for it!
Gather your ingredients:
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 2 cans evaporated milk
- 2 cans (use the evaporated milk cans) water
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla extract

Add all of the ingredients into a 3 quart or larger slow cooker and cook on slow for 2 hours. Then you can turn it down to “warm” and have hot chocolate all day long 🙂 I usually double this recipe if the kiddos are having friends over.
