These Hot Cajun Funeral Sandwiches will be a hit no matter where you take them! There is nothing to be sad about with these sandwiches. You will not need a funeral to have a great reason to make these amazingly sweet and spicy sliders for your family. I make them, at least, once a month. They are gone quickly every time I make them, with the kiddos begging for more! This is another hugely flexible recipe. You can substitute almost any of your favorite cheeses and deli meats for the ones in this recipe. I also experiment with different types of rolls to get a different flavor each time.

Hot Cajun Funeral Sandwiches

These hot Cajun funeral sandwiches evolved from an old family recipe that we all love. I didn’t know they were called funeral sandwiches until my grandmother told me. I thought that is a depressing name for such a great sandwich, but it makes sense. These sandwiches are perfect for any family gathering or outing. My kiddos get so excited when I make them. We just call them hot sandwiches around our house and they are requested often.

One thing that makes these hot Cajun funeral sandwiches so fantastic is that they can be prepared last minute! Just stop by the grocery store and pick up the rolls. Most of the other ingredients are usually somewhere around my kitchen. I do substitute mozzarella cheese and ham often with these sandwiches, just because that’s what I usually have on-hand in my kitchen. The kids never know the difference. I think it’s the butter and seasoning that really makes these sandwiches irresistible.
