About The Aluminum Show:
Mind over metal: That’s what happens when UpStage (US) brings The Aluminum Show to Lafayette at 7:30 p.m. on October 25 at the Heymann Center.
This spectacular, new version of the Aluminum Show brings materials of all sorts, from the hardware store variety to the fabric store type, music and artists together on stage in a magical, mystery-filled creation. The show combines visual theater, dance, and humor in an exciting, multi-sensory experience, to tell the story of one man’s incredible journey to a parallel universe – a futuristic planet made entirely of aluminum. Aluminum pipes come to life, transforming into imaginary, mysterious, and playful characters.
The new show was written and directed by Lior Kalfo, creator of the internationally successful shows “Voca People,” “Fantasy,” and “Glow.” Ilan Azriel, co-creator of the international Aluminum Show is the artistic director. Ido Tadmor, Israel’s “Ambassador of Dance,” is the choreographer, is the show’s choreographer. A winner Israel’s “Landau Prize” for life achievement in dance Tadmor was the main judge on the Israeli version of “So You Think You Can dance?” He has been a member of the Bat Dor Dance Company, the internationally popular Bat Sheva Dance Company and the New York-based Lar Lubovitch Dance Company. During the past 3 decades Ido Tadmor has represented the State of Israel around the
world as an “Ambassador of Dance”.
“The Aluminum Show is an exciting display of imagination that literally reaches out to the audience,” says Jacqueline Lyle, UpStage’s creative director. “There are so many different types of shows that come to our theaters and arenas; however, there’s nothing quite like this.” The show is suitable for all ages and languages, and tickets are available through all TicketMaster outlets and online at TicketMaster.com. In association with the Heymann Center, Downtown Alive and Basin Arts, UpStage has organized an aluminum-inspired costume contest and public art competition. Anyone can participate in either creative event, including artists, school groups and other creative types.
