The Big Hair And Big Fun Behind Pixels Movie #PixelsMovie
I know y’all will find this hard to believe, but I had REALLY BIG hair back in the 80’s 😀 My big hair followed me into the 90’s and occasionally, I still get a little *large* with my hair from time to time. If you are too young to remember how amazingly strange the 80’s were or if you just need a little nudge tapping into that nostalgic feeling of years go by, have no fear; Pixels has you covered! Am I the only one who thinks the 80’s were like 10 years ago? Seriously, it doesn’t seem THAT long ago. Kids these days act like the 80’s were over 30 years ago, geesh!
When Max Headroom popped up in Pixels, I was the only one around my area who remembered his name right away! Maybe I did watch a little bit too much MTV growing up. Afterall, I do remember when MTV meant Music TeleVision LOL I watched videos all day long and so did most of my friends.
I was able to snap a few pictures of these “old school” video games when we visited Dave & Busters for the press junket. Talk about fun memories! These really were the days. The 80’s were the days of truly social gaming. These were the games we played when we actually still had to talk to each other and sort out or differences to play games. We had to put our quarter down and wait our turn to play. There was the occasional bully at the arcade, but it was totally worth the risk to spend time with our friends.
Although, I have this photo of me playing Space Invaders; Centipede was totally my game! I could beat anybody at it and loved playing. If you need more 80’s fun and can’t wait to share it with the next generation, go check out Pixels when it opens in theaters everywhere tomorrow! I cannot wait to share it with my kiddos. I know my son is going to LOVE it! I will hear “Did y’all really do/say/play that?” during the entire movie and I cannot wait!
Pixels story:
As kids in the 1980s, Sam Brenner (Adam Sandler), Will Cooper (Kevin James), Ludlow Lamonsoff (Josh Gad), and Eddie “The Fire Blaster” Plant (Peter Dinklage) saved the world thousands of times – at 25 cents a game in the video arcades. Now, they’re going to have to do it for real. In Pixels, when intergalactic aliens discover video feeds of classic arcade games and misinterpret them as a declaration of war, they attack the Earth, using the video games as the models for their assaults — and now-U.S. President Cooper must call on his old-school arcade friends to save the world from being destroyed by PAC-MAN, Donkey Kong, Galaga, Centipede, and Space Invaders. Joining them is Lt. Col. Violet Van Patten (Michelle Monaghan), a specialist supplying the arcaders with unique weapons to fight the aliens.
