Royal Sonesta ~ A Touch Of Royalty In The Middle Of Houston
*My family was given this travel opportunity in exchange for our honest feedback. Â As always, opinions are 100% my own and we only recommend places we feel are a great fit.*
We were given the honor of staying at the Royal Sonesta in Houston over the Fourth of July holiday this year.  This turned out to be one of the most amazing hotels we have ever experienced as a family.  When choosing a hotel, I often opt for the economy chains, partially because of the price, but also a large part is because they don’t seem family friendly.  This was not the case with the Royal Sonesta Houston!  Our entire family, all 5 of us had an amazing stay at the Royal Sonesta.  From the moment we pulled up to this elegant hotel to the moment we drove away; we were in awe of the attention to detail that is visible in every department with which we came in contact.  The Royal Sonesta is not only beautiful, but it is literally right around the corner from EVERYTHING you need or want in Houston!  In the same neighborhood with the Royal Sonesta are the Houston Zoo, Museum District – 18 museums, The Galleria – 375 stores and ice rink, Jogging or golf at Memorial Park, Williams Tower Water Wall, Theater District, Hermann Park, Sam Houston Park and Heritage Sites,  and the Uptown Park entertainment and gardens!  Surely you will find something everyone in your family loves just around the corner 😀
We quickly found out that the decor inside the Royal Sonesta was even more dramatic than the beauty outside of the hotel. Â The elegance of the hotel is highlighted by the gorgeous bronze chandelier (pictured above) that runs the entire length of the lobby and lounge hallway. Â This is, by far, the most dramatic chandelier I have ever seen! Â Checking in the Royal Sonesta was also a breeze. Â We were at the check in counter for less than 5 minutes before we had our keys and they staff was loading up our luggage to take it to our rooms.
Just to the left of the beautiful chandelier was the Launch Cafe, which is directly across from the Axis lounge.  We arrived right in the middle of lunch and supper, so we stopped in the cafe for sandwiches, chips, cookies, and a drink.  I ordered the chicken salad sandwich and white chocolate/macadamia nut cookie and they were both heavenly!
Now we get to the good part, our room! Â This room was gorgeous! Â I was in love with the decor. Â The colors were so warm and inviting, yet stayed with the elegant feel of the Royal Sonesta. Â The bathroom (pictured above) was full of all of the small details that I adore! Â I just love when a hotel goes a little bit above the rest to make you feel like they care that you’re impressed. Â From the beautifully scented body lotion and shoe sponge to the retractable cord on the hair dryer; I was in awe. Â Yes, retractable cords get me LOL
The beds in this room were pure luxury! Â We all rested very well and I was even able to get a little work done at this super comfy and functional office station. Â Again, the decor and color scheme of this room definitely helped make us feel right at home. Â The chair and ottoman in the corner were perfect for me to do a little blogging about our trip while peeking out the window and gaining inspiration.
Before we left Sunday morning, it was time to go test out the pool.  Besides, Hannah wasn’t going to let us leave without it LOL  I absolutely love that the pool was on the roof of the hotel.  This was very impressive to our little ones.  The view from the roof was amazing!  As a mom of young children, I am also a fan of the trend for hotels to keep the deepest part of the pool at 3 – 4 feet.  It definitely helps give me peace of mind to relax while the kids are swimming.  If ever you are in the Houston area, you will be doing yourself and your family a huge favor by stopping by the Royal Sonesta Houston 🙂
