5 Simple Habits That Will Keep Your Teen's Smile Healthy All Year

From when they were babies, oral hygiene has been a priority in our family.  It started when we taught all three of our toddlers how to brush their teeth with Kid’s Crest and continues now that they are older and using Crest Pro-Health.  We started by letting them chew on their tooth brushes and, now it is just a habit they have of keeping their teeth clean.

We chose Crest Pro-Health for our family because because of its strong whitening power and because it protects the 8 areas that dentists check most; cavities, gingivitis, acid erosion, sensitivity, plaque, tartar, whitening, fresh breath.  Not to mention, Crest is always affordable and always seem to have a great coupon available for us to use.  What’s even better is that there’s a $2 off instant savings on any Crest toothpaste at
Sam’s Club stores through September 17th! You can find the deal online or through the Sam’s Club Instant Savings book.

Here are a few simple ways to keep your teen’s teeth healthy all year with no fuss:

  1. Start young – As I mentioned above, we started when our children were toddlers, getting them familiar with a tooth brush.  This can be done by allowing them to chew on the bristles of a toothbrush made, specifically, for toddlers or babies.
  2. Find a great toothpaste – Kids aren’t usually real happy about change, especially when it comes to something like toothpaste.  Find a great toothpaste, like Crest, that you love and trust to get them started on the path to healthy teeth.
  3. Make it a habit – As your family grows, you will notice that certain things just become a habit.  Brushing teeth should be one of those habits that your family just does, twice a day.
  4. Brush twice a day – The dentist has always told our kiddos “You brush your teeth at night for health and you brush them in the morning for fresh breath”.  Brushing teeth is just as important at night as it is in the mornings.  We tend to put more emphasis on morning brushing because it gives us fresh breath, but don’t forget night brushing too; that gives us healthy teeth!
  5. Cut down on snacking – How often your child snacks is very important.  It is important to eat healthy foods such as fresh fruits and veggies, but it is also important to eat these foods during designated times of the day.  Snacking all day or grazing, even on healthy snacks, can keep your teeth exposed to sugars and acids from foods for too long.  This can cause tooth decay to start.
