Christmas Crack Cracker Toffee Candy

Ingredients

  • 1 sleeve Salted saltine crackers about 42 crackers
  • 1 cup Butter 2 sticks
  • 1 cup Brown sugar packed
  • 1 cup Chocolate chips you can use milk, dark, semi-sweet, or white chocolate
  • 1/2 cup Candy pieces or nuts as desired

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil and spray with cooking spray.

  2. Place crackers side by side on lined pan and set aside.In a 3 qt sauce pan, combine butter and brown sugar.

  3. Bring mixture to a boil over medium/medium-high heat and boil for 3 minutes, stirring constantly.

  4. Pour butter mixture evenly over crackers and spread evenly with a spoon or small spatula.

  5. Bake in preheated oven for 5 minutes.

  6. Carefully remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips on top.

  7. Let stand for 5 minutes, then use the back of a spoon to spread melted chocolate chips evenly over the crackers.

  8. Top with candy pieces and drizzle with white chocolate if desired.

  9. Cool completely. You can place in fridge (at least 2 hours) or in freezer (at least 1 hour), then break or cut into pieces.

  10. Store in fridge in covered airtight container.
