This easy Instant Pot dirty rice ready in under 30 minutes is going to change your week!  I am always looking for better and easier recipes to cook in my Instant Pot.  I’ve been on a kick to perfect a few Cajun or Creole recipes lately.  I did just that with this Instant Pot dirty rice!

Easy Instant Pot Dirty Rice Ready In Under 30 Minutes

I made this Instant Pot dirty rice a few times before I got the perfect flavor.  Now, this is not “authentic” Cajun dirty rice.  Authentic Cajun dirty rice has chopped liver in it and I’m just not a fan of that flavor, so I left that part out.  I added some bacon and breakfast sausage to give it extra flavor.  This turns out AMAZING!  My kiddos and husband beg for me to make it, so it has become a staple on our dining room table.  Hopefully, you’ll fall in love with it too.  Let me know what you think of it and how you change it up!  I’m always looking for new, great ideas for my Instant Pot.

Easy Instant Pot Dirty Rice Ready In Under 30 Minutes

Dirty rice is a must for any Cajun table and this recipe will WOW even the toughest food critic.  Dirty rice is great for serving along side BBQ, Thanksgiving dinner, or all by itself.  We eat it by itself or with baked beans and French bread most often.  Not only is it delicious, but it is wholesome and very inexpensive!  This is a “beans and rice” meal that the whole family can love.

Course Side Dish
Cook Time 25 minutes
Servings 5

Ingredients

  • 4 oz Bacon chopped
  • 1 lb Breakfast Sausage
  • 1 Medium Onion chopped
  • 1 rib Celery chopped
  • 1/2 Bell Pepper chopped
  • 1 Tbsp Garlic chopped
  • 2 tsp Cajun seasoning
  • 1 Bay leaf
  • 1/2 tsp Dried Thyme
  • 1 Can Chicken Broth 14 oz
  • 1 1/2 Cups Long Grain Rice
  • 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce

Instructions

  1. Set your Instant Pot to Saute and toss in the first 6 ingredients.

  2. Saute in Instant Pot until the onions are clear (about 10 minutes). Make sure you stir about every 2 minutes.

  3. Pour in the rest of the ingredients and give it a stir.

  4. Set your Instant pot to Manual (high) for 15 minutes. Seal the lid and let it cook!

  5. Once the time is up, let it naturally release for about 10 minutes, then you can quick release. When I'm cooking rice in my Instant Pot, I like it to release naturally as long as I can just to make sure the rice has had time to absorb all of the moisture.

  6. Remove the bay leaf and serve hot!

  2. Loved the dirty rice recipe! Instead of 1lb of sausage, I used 1/2 pound chicken livers and 1/2 lb of sausage! Really good!

I ran out of fresh garlic. So I used 1tsp garlic powder instead. I also cut the Cajun seasoning in half because my sausage guy makes his super spicy. It turned out great and my picky boys loved it also!

My first IP success! My family has not loved any of the other dishes-too bland or just weird were their comments with my other tries. This they loved. No leftovers! I used spicy sausage and it was perfect for our taste. My son even put Tony’s on his!
